The 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle and Chevrolet Malibu models got some styling tweaks that resulted in a longer, more straightforward appearance. Rarest of the 101,577 SS Chevelles issued in '65 was the SS 396, with crossed-flag emblems on its fenders and a new 375-horsepower 396-cubic-inch "porcupine" V-8 underhood. All models retained the "little Lincoln" styling crafted by Henry's artistic son Edsel (who was named Ford Motor Company president in 1919), but the fenders were lower and wider, the hoodline was higher, and stainless steel replaced nickel plate on the radiator and headlight shells.
